Finishing thoughts

I have lost yet another friend to the big "C" this week so it has been difficult to think about some of the good stuff that
has happened recently. I
thought of Goya's Majas as I
completed the last treatment
on August 8. If you go through something like this
you would understand the position and the correlation.
Following the final boost I
felt elation as I left the
hospital and said goodbyes to my great team. I realize that I am truly fortunate to
have had what I had discovered as early as it was during this year. I celebrated with a break from
the studio and an exciting
trip with friends to London
and to Spain (which brings it back around to Goya.)
The news of this loss of a
dear friend paralyzes me as
I had just spoken with her
before I left and she sounded so upbeat and so positive about the future.
More good news awaited: I received the news I had been
hoping for as a goal for the year yet the happiness has been overshadowed with the
news of this week. I can find solace in knowing that
my friend was doing what she
loved best and she did her best to fight with the same kind of spirit that will be
remembered. I wish for a cure
and hope that somehow I can
help with that mission in
my artistic endeavors.
