Perdita e fortuna (Loss and luck)

The older one gets, and it needs to be noted that I still do not consider myself as old, one learns that loss
becomes part of la vita (life). Yesterday we suffered the loss of my golden retriever who was eleven-plus years, which is
about the norm for this breed. Here I have battled
the BIG C, and that is what took him from us. I will spare the reader (if there
is one other than myself) a
long overview of his life
although today it became so
apparent when my drawing board friend was no longer there beside of me at my feet. So it's time to grieve
again and a lesson too often taught as we age. A wonderful
distant friend sent me an e-mail that relayed the message
that her recently departed
shih-tsu and mine are there
jumping around in their festa, celebrating their lives with us. Hopefully, too, other lost ones are there as angels to take over
watching over them.
Allora....the luck part: (a few days later) I received an e-mail from another friend today that was one of those forwarded things that says that if you send it out to so many people, you will get a wish
granted in the number of minutes that you are old.
Usually, I'll hit the forward button just for the
heck of it and send anyway.
This one also said that I would get a phone call within that same time frame.
She had the subject line in
her message as "creepy" and
the phone did ring right after I forwarded the messsage. Call it karma or
synchronicity, or whatever,
but I got a call about a dog
which might be the answer to
easing our present discomfort. Hopefully.....
we'll see if he's the one.
